Discover Brooklyn: Park Slope

This lovely mock Queen Anne building with a cantilevered corner tower is named locally after a noted singer who was once its resident. 

Founded in 1826 as an anti-slavery church, the current St John’s is a fabulous example of a late 19th-Century design from architect  John Rochester Thomas.

Completed in 1883 by architects Pugin & Walter, this church is blessed with 17 Stained Glass windows from Tiffany Studios installed between 1905 and 1910.

These two famous townhouses combine classic architecture from the late 1800s with gothic flourishes from the Loire Valley and the Black Forest.

Built in 1881 by S.F. Evelette, this impressive building was initially a Masonic Hall.  As well as enjoying its Victorian Gothic style, guests might also want to take in one of its many free concerts.

The Montauk Clubhouse, founded in 1889, was designed by Francis H. Kimball. It is reportedly modelled on Venice’s Ca’ d’Oro or the Palazzo Santa Sofia.

This nationally protected district consists of 134 contributing residential townhouses built between the 1860s and 1880s.  A stroll here provides a wonderful small-town experience in a big city.
